THINK- ALOUD: Making Thinking Visible Think- Alouds can be used as a strategy to encourage learners to put on paper what they are thinking about as they approach a math problem. Many students work an idea out in their head, but it never makes it to their paper. The downfall is that those thoughts, limited to the confines of their skull, never get the chance to be re-worked or discussed, instead they are forgotten. So, below is my approach to a traditional middle school math problem. I conclude it with a historical research paper and personal reflection.
My thoughts:When I am working on math problems, I prefer to use a pen. I want to know where I messed up, changed my mind, and improved. Creativity doesn't hide mistakes, it transforms them. Ink scars are my way of reminding me not to be afraid of failure.
