A few ways I have been using TECHNOLOGY in the classroom
I am very interested in using technology as a resource in the classroom, while teaching, and outside of the classroom, but when using it as a learning tool, I always keep students best interests in mind! I always make sure it is a resource rather than a distraction!

DIGITAL LEARNING COMMUNITY
edmodo
A Safe Social Network Site for Teachers and Students It's like facebook, BUT for school!! "Edmodo provides teachers and students a secure place to connect and collaborate, share content and educational applications, and access homework, grades, class discussions and notifications. Our goal is to help educators harness the power of social media to customize the classroom for each and every learner." UM, it even has a LIBRARY!! "The Edmodo Library is a great place to collect resources to use in your classroom. These can be files (of any format), links, videos, images, etc." Why I use edmodo... Besides the fact that it is awesome, it works extremely well for the flipped classroom. The library function allows easy access to assignments, videos, articles, notes, etc. Also, the students can take surveys and quizzes on the site, where there score will automatically be accounted for. But, my favorite feature, is the discussion wall. Students can collaborate with one another, arrange study dates, and ask questions at any time. It is like The Now Network for learning. |
Blogger: A way to establish a digital learning environment. Also a place for reflection and journaling.
Wikispaces: A great place to store digital files and a great resource for parents and students
Twitter: A way to have a conversation, without speaking, during a film, video lesson, or presentation. While the students watch, they can ask questions or post responses. Each student will see the tweets as they are posted and can respond.
